Mosaic workshops

Elizabeth's personalized style of instruction is a great beginning to learning the basics of making a direct method mosaic. You will learn about a wide variety of materials, the various cutting tools and how to use them, which adhesive to use for what substrates, how to design a mosaic, the correct way to place the glass for a beautiful flow and, you’ll receive written directions for grouting.  You’ll also get the all-important dos and don’ts that Elizabeth has accumulated over her many  years  in contemporary mosaic arts.

Artist in residence

I conduct mosaic projects in schools where kids design the subject matter of the mosaics and assemble them as well. We typically  work in the direct method where the mosaics are  placed on a permanent surface, such as windows or panels. Most residencies are 4-7 days of in-school time. The whole school can be involved, with the youngest grades laying a few whole tiles, and older students, grades 3 and up, using the mosaic nippers. This is a wonderful project for adult volunteers and parent participation. If you have specific questions, contact me! I work predominantly in my home state of Minnesota, but am also happy to travel.
